Pitch Perfect KC, comprised of some of Kansas City's most impactful leaders, stepped forward to lead the effort to restore the Satchel Paige House to its former standing and rebuild it as a self-sustaining community asset dedicated to the ideals embodied by Satchel Paige himself: professional excellence and life-long achievement; courage, good humor and generosity in the face of adversity; and a personal grace that leans forward, not back, into a better future.
In one month's time, Pitch Perfect KC needed a cohesive narrative; a visual brand including colors, logo and graphic elements; and initial digital and print collateral to pre-launch at the 2022 Major League Baseball Hall of Fame induction of a fellow Kansas City great, Buck O'Neil, in Cooperstown, New York. Under this tight deadline as Senior Writer and Account Director, I galvanized and directed our talented design, digital, and creative teams to produce colors, logo, web and print assets that gave Pitch Perfect KC the materials they needed to not only deliver a world class pitch to baseball's royalty, but to, also, build a strong foundation for a wider international launch to come. We built an initial path for donations, and the fundraising effort began to take shape as the site went live on deadline and under budget. Watch as this work develops in real time at www.SatchelsHouse.org

Leroy "Satchel" Paige is a historical figure whose time in the spotlight has now returned. A baseball legend, a civil rights pioneer, a community leader and social icon, Satchel Paige is back. Satchel Paige loved Kansas City. Almost immediately upon desegregation of the prominent Santa Fe Neighborhood on Kansas City's near east side, Satchel established his home and resided here for over 30 years. Several seasons with the Kansas City Monarchs and family life in this midwestern mecca were more than enough to endear the city to the internationally known icon and to mark it as Satchel Paige's home for the ages.
What a profound privilege it was to work with these community minded Kansas City leaders and my team of creative visionaries.
