As Creative Director and Senior Copywriter, I produced several series of compelling direct mail pieces for history-making Alabama Circuit Judge Joeletta Barrentine and over 30 other candidates for the 2020 cycle. I created a wide variety of micro-story narratives and visual experiences for candidates that articulated and focused their messages in the most impactful and strategic manner designed to get a direct response in the form of loyalty, financial support, and a vote.
Our award-winning campaigns earned a remarkable 82% win rate. In 2022, that figure rose to a 92% win rate. In this example, Judge Joeletta Barrentine credits our work below with helping to push her over the top when it mattered.
92% Win Percentage
Following her historic win, Barrentine credited her positive approach to campaigning in a story in the regional newspaper, The Daily Mountain Eagle.
"I wanted to let the people know who I am," she said. "I wanted to let the people choose based on what the candidates stated about themselves. And I wanted them to know who they are voting for, that they are voting for Joeletta and who Joeletta really is."...With Tuesday's win, Barrentine becomes the first elected female judge in the history of the Walker County Courthouse.  She said it is an honor to serve as the first female judge and hopes to be someone that little girls can look up to. "It's one of those things that I think that young girls can now say 'I can do this.' They now have a vision of what the female in a robe looks like in our courthouse. Don't ever limit yourself. If you're a girl and you're out there, you can be any- and everything you want to be," she said.
"Like I said, to the people who invited us in when we were knocking on doors to the people who knocked on doors, to the ones who put up signs, who voted, who liked and shared on Facebook, who really took that mailer, read it, looked at it and made a conscious decision - I appreciate them and am humbled by the fact that people had confidence enough in me to elect me to this position," Barrentine said.
