The Honorable Wellington Webb, the first African American Mayor of Denver, served three terms as mayor of Denver and has a long and illustrious record of regional and national impact. Mayor Webb has served as president of the Democratic Mayors and is past president of the U.S. Conference of Mayors and National Conference of Black Mayors.
It was my privilege to pen this piece in Mayor Webb's voice and cadence that, after his review and approval, helped to galvanize crucial support for then aspiring mayor, Michael Hancock, in the heated last few weeks of this highly contested campaign. Mayor Hancock has gone on to serve three terms as mayor of Denver, Colorado.
This endorsement was written for one of Denver's most prominent Latina leaders then submitted for editing and approval during the heat of the 2011 Denver mayoral campaign.
